I’ve taken you before to the Kasemidu Fishing Harbor for dockside and fish market images plus the Mylapore Temple yet each visit brings new sites worthy of capturing.

I’ve changed my framing look for now with the large band in “White” for color images and B&W has two choices using White-Black-Gray or White-Gray-Black bands.  Thoughts?

Sunrise at Kasemidu Fishing Harbor

Glad you stopped by.  Let me share with you another sunrise photowalk around Kasemidu Fishing Harbor.  Blue Hour started at 5:38a with Golden Hour ending at 6:38a.  I overslept (first time) and we arrived at 5:55a with plenty of time to get the early morning light.

Given other commitments, we didn’t have time to walk south towards the Fish Market which is another story altogether.  Next time on 11/7.

screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-4-48-37-pm
You can see the six piers on the LH side going left to right.  We walked the 2nd and 3rd piers with plenty of action to witness as ships were readying themselves to leave (ice and diesel placed onboard).   While other boat crews were counting their hard earned money from a day’s catch including a small portion of fish to take home to the family.

Here he’s unloading ~25 ice blocks which are broken down into 4 pieces each then loaded by hand into the hull of the boat, cost Rs250/big block.  The tire caught each block’s impact in avoiding the generation of ice cubes.

If you have the money, the ice is placed in a pulverizer then taken to the boat’s hull hole by a conveyor and drop tube.

These two made a great diagonal image as they took a rest for the next haul out to sea.
dashansheying-2204
Time to repair the fishing net.  Apparently, ~10 boats go out together with one big boat which anchors after laying the net and the other 9 boats later pull-in net for the day’s catch.  Wonder if I could go out for an all-day excursion to see it first hand.

After repairing the net, it’s pulled onto the boat and positioned for the next time at sea.

PSM Photowalk at Sunset in Mylapore 2016-10-09

Back again (and again) to Mylapore as it’s a happening place during festival time with lots of people, colors and the morning/evening lighting as icing on the cake.  The stand out attraction was Navarathri Golu Dolls.

“Faces of Chennai” – Mylapore Kapaleeshawarar Temple – Chariot Festival

Got up early (again) and arrived at the temple in front of the Chariot (Car) Festival at 6:00 am sharp.  The crowd hadn’t arrived so it gave me a chance to walk around with an un-obstructed view.  Having been here last year, I knew what the morning held, i.e. in one word – People.

Here’s my walking route including elevated platforms and rooftops:

Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple Festival – Mar 16

Well I got up at 5:00am to be at the Mylapore Temple in readiness for today’s main event.  Luckily I meet up with another PSM member and he took me to an elevated vantage point.

I used my Lumix LX-100 as my primary camera today but as I loaded the RAW files into Lightroom, something happened and the files got corrupt.  Luckily I used my D300S IR converted camera for a few images so at least I’m not empty-handed for the effort today.

Used Topaz Impression to finish off the image.  Still experimenting.DaShanSheYing-1110

Used Topaz BW Effects for the first time.  Comparing to NIK and MacPhun B&W plug-ins for +s and -s.

Repeat of the “Featured Image”.  Notice the “flowers” being dropped on the idol.  Those three ropes on the right-hand side are control the “flower-dropper” back and forth.

Looking forward to Sunday’s Car (Chariot) Festival on Sunday March 20, 7:15am. Last year’s festival was an overwhelming mass of people.
